40 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders each year, with an additional 20 million suffering from occasional sleep problems, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. It’s common for people to have trouble sleeping – it can be seen as a normal and acceptable discomfort that some of us simply have to deal with. In reality, insomnia, unproductive sleep, or other sleeping issues are not something you should have to deal with.
At Everspring Health, we can help you get back to a normal sleep schedule. We look at a variety of factors, starting with your history: when did you start having troubles with sleep? When do you wake up? Do you have difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep or both? Is it linked to a stressor or recent life change? Once we’ve learned everything we can about what’s going on, we examine your diet and stress levels throughout the day, and talk to you about how these lifestyle factors can affect your ability to go to sleep or stay asleep at night. We help alleviate the anxiety response sleep issues often provoke, and regulate stress hormones through changes in diet, acupuncture and massage, and herbal therapies. We also look at other environmental factors, like if you use your computer, a TV, or other electronics in your room, or if you have pets or a spouse that might affect your sleep patterns.
We approach the situation with the understanding that people with sleep disorders are actually tired, but are being prevented from sleeping due to environmental, physical, or personal reasons. Together, we work to create a setting where you are able to sleep comfortably and successfully night after night.
Back pain is one of the most common issues we deal with here at Everspring Health. From repetitive stress injuries to poor posture to back pain with unknown causes we see it all. So, when you come in to see us we begin by looking at your history with back pain and all possible influential factors: where it came from, what it feels like, if it changes based on varying activities, body movements, temperatures, seasons, or times of day.
We want to know everything we can about your experience in order to develop a treatment strategy that will work for you, specifically. Acupuncture and massage are often used to help relax muscles and ideally relieve some of the immediate pain, as well, we us therapies like positional release and physical exercises as needed. Our integrative approach often utilizes chiropractic and physical therapy as a part of an effective treatment program. We fully examine lifestyle habits stress, diet, sleep, posture and use further observations to improve your body’s ability to ideally alleviate pain permanently. If you have a current course of treatment – like physical therapy or surgery – we’ll work with your doctors to provide the best relief possible.
Headaches have become an acceptable reality for our modern lifestyles, when in actuality, they shouldn’t be. A headache should not be a daily occurrence, and a chronic headache should never become strong enough to be considered a migraine, cluster headache or similar. At Everspring Health, we review your history with headaches: how long have you had them? What occurred around the time of onset of the condition? What do your headaches feel like? How often do you get them? Are they sensitive to changes in temperature, seasonal shifts, or different times of day?
Your history, paired with an understanding of your personal balance of stress, diet, and sleep, will lead us to choosing an appropriate treatment plan. This plan will involve a change in lifestyle (more sleep, less stress, more appropriate diet), physical therapy (acupuncture, massage), postural alignment or positional release, or an examination of neurological or systemic issues. Each plan is specific to each individual’s diverse experience.
Everspring Health approaches reproductive health in several different ways, the first of which is proactive. Come see us when you’ve just begun planning a family. It is actually quite common for healthy couples to face fertility hiccups and challenges. These often occur when lifestyle stressors inconveniently line up with natural shifts in hormonal rhythms that could temporarily affect either partner. Most often in this stage challenges are associated with expectations of planning versus actual clinical health conditions.
Engaging with us before planning becomes more targeted means that, at the very least, we can create a program where everyone involved is healthier, more comfortable, and more prepared to greet a new member of the family. Often couples come to us in the midst of their planning calendar which increases stress and often leads to further challenges. Our recommendation is at least 90 days of preperation to help allow for ideal alignment of expectations and natural hormonal rhythms. This time period might need to be increased depending influential factors like extended use of birth control pills as one example. With the right preperatory care, you can increase your chances of a healthy pregnancy, healthy birth and decrease the risk of any postpartum challenges.
On the other side of things, if you are already experiencing problems with fertility, it’s important for you to know that nothing is necessarily wrong with you or your spouse: it may just be that you need tools to help boost your health and reproductive processes. We can use acupuncture and massage, herbal therapies, and nutrition to create a better environment for pregnancy without putting the large amounts of stress on the woman’s body that reproductive endocrinology involves. Using our integrative approach, we can give your body its best chance to create and foster new life.
Finally, for those already using reproductive support services (e.g. a Reproductive Endocrinologist) we can work to support your current program including providing acupuncture to support ovarian stimulation and before and after embryo transfer.
Chronic fatigue is a syndrome characterized by extreme fatigue that is not linked to another underlying medical condition. The fatigue tends to get worse with physical or mental demands and is not improved even with sufficient rest.
Chronic fatigue as a syndrome cannot be diagnosed by a single test and in many cases it is a diagnosis arrived at by ruling out all other possibilities. Often chronic fatigue is experienced in association with many other symptoms which furthers the effort to rule out other diseases or instigating conditions. Unfortunately, this also complicates progress as the individual is going untreated as the diagnostics continue.
Conventional treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome focuses on symptom relief, whereas at Everspring Health our integrative therapy focuses on peeling back the layers of chronic fatigue to sufficiently dissolve the issue. Our treatment goes beyond management of symptoms; we develop an integrative program including nutrition, exercise, manual therapy (acupuncture, massage, etc) to provide you with a productive long-term solution. We start by understanding your past and current health history, in order to narrow down the primary influential factors. The benefits of Everspring Health’s approach is that most often something can be done to pursue a level of normal of function while diagnostics continue to rule out any other issues that may need to be addressed.
The challenges one should understand when dissolving chronic fatigue is that progress may be slow and sporadic until certain benchmarks of time are met using consistent therapy throughout that time. One should be prepared to engage and invest in a program for at least 90 days so that enough progress can be made and then understood to create a lifestyle that can further the program and ideally dissolve the condition while seeking to prevent it from returning.
Quality of life is our mission at Everspring Health. Within that pursuit lies the concept of Everspring Living, a mindful intent to make quality of life an accessible and realistic part of our daily experience. We often view health, or lack there of, as something that gets in our way, something that distracts or detracts from our daily experience. What if we had more energy? What if we had better clarity of mind? What if having better stability in our health enabled us to pursue a more productive and fulfilling path? In order to create this experience Everspring Health provides a model of healthcare that truly focuses on healthy living, prevention and quality of life. Everspring Living is not a practice of trying to catch disease early, rather active practice of mindfulness and awareness that seeks to prevent disease from happening in the first place. Everspring Living is the holistic mindset behind Everspring Health, a mindset for daily living with the intent to cultivate the best possible experience of spirit, mind and body integration.
When considering integrative healthcare, the pursuit of quality of life gives us a benchmark from which to measure and gauge our progress. When dealing with chronic conditions, healthcare protocols integrated with daily lifestyle practices empowers each individual to regain control of their health. Everspring Living is a fundamental part of every program no matter what your original issue might be because it improves outcomes every time. Even if a condition or disease is thought to be incurable, it is entirely possible to live a life less influenced by that disease. This is benefit of true integrative healthcare bolstered by the accessible resource of Everspring Living, a mindset of awareness that enables one to truly embrace each and every moment.
Besides being a part of our standard of care, many clients find that individual sessions for lifestyle consulting, life coaching, healing touch therapy, massage therapy, mindfulness sessions and more are great resources they can leverage in their daily lives. Our focus at Everspring Health is less on which therapy or practice is “mandatory” and more on which therapy or practice is optimal given the needs of the client. Not everything is a nail needed to be pounded back into place. What is important when seeking long-term results is the strategy that is used to develop an integrative healthcare program based on individual needs. By educating our members and guests via our Everspring Living consultations and programs we make sure to achieve optimal results in balance with the most effective investment of your time, money and effort.
Everspring Health members and guests benefit from Everspring Living service programs that are grounded on three key benchmarks within an individual’s life – stress, diet and sleep. These three experiences serve as observation points to provide a distinctly personalized feedback system to practitioners as well as to the client. By observing stress, diet and sleep clients have something from which to gauge their daily holistic experience. Creating programs rooted in real life experiences Everspring practitioners can build a more effective program that is less invasive and more affordable. Furthermore the results end up being more empowering to the client because they improve an individual's daily experience.
A mindful focus on appropriateness and customization is what allows us to truly engage each client in their own experience and help them to become empowered in their own health and lives as a whole. Health doesn't just happen and it cannot be imposed even by the best practitioners. The pursuit of health is a partnership between clients and practitioners and this is the service you can expect when you come to visit with us.
The vision we hold for Everspring Health is one where healthcare returns to neighborhood clinics, where service is provided by practitioners who know clients personally and advocate for individuals in the pursuit of improved health and longevity. At Everspring Health we believe the application of client centered care is the single focus of first-line lifestyle, health and healing services. Our vision of a more appropriate model involves an integrative healthcare strategy where the first line of healthcare is primarily composed of therapies not procedures. Chronic disease care is the number one medical need worldwide, the system we have today developed during a time of acute care need and is not sufficient to meet the specific needs of the individual.
To effectively meet the modern need for care and pursue personalized quality of life an integrative healthcare model is the most accessible means of delivering high quality care. Integrative healthcare is the hub where all therapies, prescriptions, procedures and lifestyle components meet to create optimal outcomes. The most efficient model for delivering integrative healthcare is a model grounded in therapies and therapeutic strategies. Therapies like acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy and lifestyle development are leveraged because they are dynamic to the medical needs of the individual yet grounded in the principles of health cultivation. Therapeutic strategies that consider the spirit, mind and body in the practical pursuit of optimal health are the cornerstone of the Everspring Health service model.
Our model has been recognized as an emerging leader in integrative healthcare, demonstrating that a therapy centric model not only reduces much of the wasted spending but also reduces actual cost of service while, most importantly, improving personalized care at the same time. By utilizing a therapy first model healthcare can realistically become affordable, accessible, personalized care.
In general the modern healthcare model is a procedure model where the first line of service prescribes procedures or if a diagnosis is inconclusive requires procedures to further the diagnosis. The procedure first model is ideal for medical application where emergency, urgent or acute care is determined to be necessary. However, with regards to chronic disease in general not to mention preventive, rehabilitative and quality of life care specifically, the current model has generally proven to be costly, variably effective and marginal at best with regards to overall progression towards quality of life.
An integrative healthcare model on the other hand allows for a more appropriate non-emergency first line resource by allowing for personalized treatment protocols for subclinical as well as chronic conditions. A integrative model enables healthcare to remain affordable for clients and reduces much of the inflation we have seen in the system. Much of our confidence in this model stems from the four interrelated therapy based practice components that contribute to effective integrative healthcare.
By increasing time, improving diagnostics and most often offering treatment all in the same visit it is not hard to see the benefits of an integrative healthcare model.
Furthering our vision for a more appropriate model is our system and service integration including our team practice concept supported by an improved client-practitioner partnership via our cooperative business model. These design concepts enable us to utilize an integrative model to validate everyone involved including our practitioners. This last point is something that we believe to be diluted in the current healthcare environment, it is our belief that empowered practitioners, practitioners who are allowed to perform at their best, inherently provide better service and benefit most with regards to their own health and wellbeing.
The Everspring Model was developed to be aggressively dynamic and flexible so that we may be able to maintain our commitment for improving healthcare accessibility on a daily basis. We believe that client-centered integrative healthcare is one of our primary competitive advantages because our model enables us to appropriately serve the needs of each one of our clients.
The cooperative organizational structure was chosen as the optimal vehicle for maintaining the focus of our organization. The International Cooperative Alliance currently serves as the international standard bearer for cooperatives. A cooperative is a member-owned, member-governed business that operates for the benefit of its members according to common principles agreed upon by the International cooperative community as well as its articles and bylaws. In a cooperative organization members pool resources to bring about economic results that are generally unobtainable by one person alone. Cooperatives are formed to help better market common products (Land-O-Lakes, Sunkist, etc) or to help leverage resources to purchase products (REI, Wedge etc.) or obtain services desired by a common group of individuals (Everspring Health). Everspring Health is the result of the intention to pursue the aforementioned objectives in the area of lifestyle, health and healing services.
Cooperatives are mission driven and are designed to offer greatest benefit to the individuals who use the services offered by the organization. This concept presents a unique member focus that we believe to be ideal in the pursuit of our mission for improving quality of life. Due to the nature of a cooperative we have the ability to develop a resource that enables us to invest in the refinement, expansion and long-term stability of our organization so that we can maintain our mission while still keeping the costs to our members in mind.
We believe that it is a sound investment to pay our employees and practitioners what they are worth based on experience and the investment they make towards the cultivation of our mission. We believe it is important to provide access to facilities and resources that do not hamstring and more importantly advance the service mission of the organization. What we don’t believe to be intuitive is seeking a means to make money for the sake of making money at the expense of peaceful and productive lifestyles. A cooperative structure provides us the means to distribute surplus revenue via patronage dividends or rebates to those member clients who choose to do their part in fulfilling the mission of our organization. We can function as an organization where everyone involved is validated for his or her time, effort and financial commitment, which seems to us to be naturally intuitive for leading healthy lives.
In a private or publicly owned company the owners may have no interest in the organization besides to earn a profit, which can distinctly change the perspective and intent of an organization. Everspring Health has been formed to offer health care in a way that is effective first and foremost but also affordable to those who utilize our services. As members of a cooperative we are uniquely positioned to ask of ourselves and of our fellow members to embrace a level of personal responsibility in our own health and wellness. We intend to integrate these standards into our program in way that is intended to inspire a new perspective in personal health and well-being. When everyone has a vested interest and sense of personal responsibility we believe that the investment and facilitation of improved health and well-being becomes a partnered effort.
"We never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."
R. Buckminster Fuller
Everspring Health is a Minnesota based lifestyle, health and healing cooperative founded by healthcare practitioners who are determined to change the existing reality in healthcare. Focusing on the area of preventive, rehabilitative and quality of life services Everspring Health seeks to change the way we look at health and then change the way we approach healthcare.
Changing the landscape of healthcare will require that we begin by promoting wellness and enhancing quality of life as the core objective of healthy living. Utilizing a cooperative business model it is our intent to develop a community where everyone involved seeks to do their part in the pursuit of greater health and a better life. Everspring Health is an intuitive concept where healthcare becomes a partnered, integrated and personalized effort between practitioners and clients. Where practitioners become facilitators of lifestyle, health and healing programs and clients embrace the responsibility for their choices and intentions in the experiences they wish to create.
Our vision for Everspring Health is to renew the concept of everyday healthcare as one of personal health facilitation where the first line of healthcare is a proactive effort towards quality of life. It is important that healthcare resources serve as a first line of defense. However, current strategies for healthcare focus too much on a defensive posture in an attempt to "catch" disease as a means of prevention. We feel strongly that an effort towards quality of life provides a more honest and genuine means of benchmarking progress and validating the needs of the client. Nobody wants to experience injury or disease and to spend all our time and effort on "catching" all possible outcomes of worst-case scenario is unrealistic and sets up everyone involved for some level of disappointment.
By focusing on personalized service and better quality of life even if a disease is still present as partners we can seek the best options for improving peace and productivity. We can pursue a genuine experience for the individual and still pursue the best possible outcome with regards to any condition being addressed. By seeking this path as partners this perspective empowers the client and practitioner by pursuing a productive goal and by providing a realistic means of measuring progress. This is just one example of the Everspring Health mindset – a vision continuously renewed and further cultivated on a daily basis.
Despite our grassroots beginning this is not just a venture of simply opening a clinic. As practitioners we believe we have a responsibility to ourselves, to our clients as well as to the system of which we are apart. Health and wellness is in need of a more appropriate perspective; one that is client centered, where quality of life is a top priority and where effective intuitive protocols take precedent over habitual diagnostics and generalized treatment strategies. We don’t want to be the best for the system, for our peers or for some extrinsic reality; we want to be the best for the individual – each individual, every individual - who walks in our door. The Everspring Health mission merged with our model is long over due and we are asking our clients to join with us so that together we can help cultivate a new era in health and healing that benefits all involved.
